S2 Games are getting ready for their biggest eSports event to date for Heroes of Newerth.

The Heroes of Newerth Hontour: Season 3 gets underway soon and HoN players will do battle for a prize pool of 70k+ USD with the event running for seven months. As we have seen with the DOTA 2 Compendium, the prize pool will be boosted with what they call eSports Plinko. Players will be able to purchase  exclusive in-game content and increase the prize pool with 25% from the proceeds going into the pool.

With regards to the tournament itself, the finals will take place next March when the top teams will go head to head in the final. Sam Braithwaite, Head of Marketing for Heroes of Newerth added:

“Heroes of Newerth´s eSports following is hungry for competition and we´re going to give it to them. If you think about it – eSports Plinko runs for HoN Tour´s entire seven month life meaning that, with the tournament´s baseline prize pool and community contributions, there´s a huge opportunity for competitors to rack up some serious winnings.”

There will be changes for the HoN Tour with a week’s “rest” between matches and a 50% reduction in teams competing in the Diamond, Gold, and Silver Divisions. The Bronze Division structure will remain unchanged for this season.

“This year´s format is designed to retroactively raise the stakes for each of the teams in the top three divisions. Upping the ante helps HoN stay true to its take-no-prisoners persona.”

If you’re a HoN  player and want to take part then registrations are now live .
