Hitman 3: Dartmoor guide — How to get the case file

Super sleuthing

Getting the case file is one of the key objectives in Hitman 3‘s Dartmoor level during the “Death in the Family” mission. The other objective is killing Alexa Carlisle, but we’ll talk about her in a while. For now, here’s our guide to help you get the case file itself.

Hitman 3: Dartmoor guide – Getting the Arthur Edwards case file

Getting the Arthur Edwards case file will let you finish Hitman 3‘s Dartmoor level (after eliminating Alexa Carlisle, of course). Anyway, there are three ways you can get it.

Obtaining the two coins

A tuppence coin has been split in half and given to Rebecca Carlisle and the butler Mr. Fernsby. You need to loot both coins from them.

In Rebecca’s case, she’s usually walking back and forth the trophy room and sitting room. If you have a viable disguise, you can drop emetic poison in a cup in the trophy room. Then, follow her to the loo and knock her out.

Mr. Fernsby, meanwhile, roams back and forth the library and the foyer (he sometimes goes to the eastern corridor where the staff room is, but it’s very rare). If Fernsby’s in the library, you can sneak up on him while the teen, Patrick, is playing pool.

After getting both coins, Diana will tell you that they can open a safe in the Milton-Fitzpatrick bank. The safe happens to contain a copy of the case file.

Open Alexa Carlisle’s safe

You can also head to Alexa Carlisle’s office. However, it’s heavily guarded and you’re likely to go in guns blazing.

Once everyone’s taken out, click the button on her chair’s armrest. The dog painting will slide open to reveal a safe.

The safe has odd symbols which correspond to a particular number. You’ll find their representations around the room:

  • Clock – The small clock next to the private room’s doorway; number 1.
  • Telescope – The telescope on the top landing; number 9.
  • Fire – The fireplace; number 7.
  • Moose – The stuffed moose hanging above the office’s entrance; number 5.

Input “1975” as the code to unlock the safe and obtain the case file.

Let Alexa Carlisle give it to you

This is only possible if you completed certain objectives during the “Means, Motive, and Opportunity” mission story. Tell her you want the case file as a reward.
