Hogwarts Legacy: How to reach south of World Map

Wait, so we were only in the north the whole time?

The world of Hogwarts Legacy is massive. We’re not just talking about the confusing corridors and winding walkways of the castle or the lush fields in the north (which is where you start the game), but there’s also a southern region that’s worth exploring. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy guide to help you reach the south of the world map early in the campaign.

Hogwarts Legacy guide: How to reach the south of the world map

The Hogwarts Legacy world map can be divided into two parts: north and south. The northern portion is essentially comprised of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, various hamlets, and several points-of-interest. It’s already a huge area in and of itself, but there’s also a southern region that you can go to.

To be clear, you’ll automatically head there as part of a quest called In the Shadow of the Mountain, but that happens fairly late in the campaign. Still, it’s possible to go ahead and explore much earlier. Oh, and you don’t want to go on foot. You should probably progress further until you’re able to ride a flying broom.

Once you’ve got a broom, head to an area called South Sea Bog/Coastal Cavern (it’s south of Hogwarts Valley). You can’t fly over the mountains here due to an invisible barrier, but you could still find a way by discovering a bandit camp.

Be careful once you reach this place because there are Goblin Archers, as well as a couple of Mountain Trolls. Likewise, you’ll notice a dirt path that leads deeper into the cave. Descend as you get closer to the cave’s opening and dismount (you can’t use your broom here). Then, activate your Disillusionment spell to enter stealth mode.

This tunnel has several Goblins, but most of them should have their backs turned. You could also attempt to do a stealth kill using Petrificus Totalus. Anyway, there’s a fast travel point in the middle of the tunnel and, beyond that, you’ll spot an elite and a couple of other enemy mobs.

This is important: these enemies will likely detect you, so the goal is to time your dodges and blocks properly. With a bit of luck, you should make it all the way to the exit. There’s another fast travel point there, marking it as the way to the south of the world map in Hogwarts Legacy.
