House of Ashes – Pictures and premonitions with light frames

Let’s talk about pictures and premonitions with lighter frames in The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. These often imply that a character will be able to survive if you make the right choices.

Premonition: Disarmed

• Chapter and location: The Raid – Inside one of the rooms in the first villager’s hut. You need to pick this up after the first interrogation. Heading outside and to the other house would trigger the cinematic that causes this chapter to progress.
• What it shows: Jason gets disarmed by Rachel.
• When it happens: Currently unknown – This is actually one of the moments that I’ve never encountered while playing. I do know that Rachel has an altercation with Jason in The Assault, but I’ve never seen her disarm him.

Premonition: Daylight

• Chapter and location: Pazuzu – Check the niche next to the first dead soldier that Salim encounters.
• What it shows: A monster attempts to grab Salim’s leg, but sunlight burns its arm.
• When it happens: After the Fall/Slayer – Salim will need to fight the creature.

Premonition: Ultraviolet

• Chapter and location: The Temple – As Rachel, go to the opposite side of the chamber to find a small room. The stone tablet is in a small nook next to the Creature Features secret.
• What it shows: A monster catches fire in front of Eric.
• When it happens: The Truce – Nick and Salim need to work together to kill a monster. Its corpse will be brought to Eric who’ll perform an autopsy. He uses the UV light to find their weakness.

Premonition: Staked

• Chapter and location: After the Fall – As Jason, follow Nick through a tunnel that leads to a chamber. This room has the premonition on top of a crate, as well as Randolph’s Journal #2.
• What it shows: Jason stabs an undead creature.
• When it happens: The Truce/Bloodbath – There’s a burial chamber here that has several secrets and collectibles (i.e., the Tripwire picture, Randolph’s Journal #4, and others). Jason can pick up a stake from one of the corpses, and it can be used as a weapon later.

Premonition: Surrendered

• Chapter and location: After the Fall/Slayer – As Nick, follow the tunnel and enter the chamber to your left. It’s next to Randolph’s Journal #3
• What it shows: It shows Salim surrendering.
• When it happens: The Truce – Nick can convince Salim to lay down his weapons.

Premonition: Comrades

• Chapter and location: The Horror/Enemy of my Enemy – This instance occurs after The Horror. Salim and Jason meet up and they work together to get through several crawlspaces. You’ll find this on a wall.
• What it shows: Salim kills a monster that’s attacking Jason.
• When it happens: Semper Fi – Jason can go back for Salim. The two will fight against the monsters.
