How to build a garden plot in LEGO Fortnite

Can minifigures have green thumbs?

In LEGO Fortnite, like any good survival horror, you can place garden plots to grow your produce. Doing so will allow you to have a lot more control over your food production.

How to get Soil in LEGO Fortnite

Soil is everywhere around you in the Grasslands, but you can’t just dig it up yourself. You’ll need a tool for that, and the shovel is the right one for the job.

In the Crafting Bench, you’ll find that you can build a shovel, using a few Wooden Rods and a Plank. Get your Lumber Mill to work to produce those items for you quickly, and return to the Crafting Bench.

With the materials, craft your shovel. With it, simply go to any patch of grass around you, even where you’re standing right now, and press the action key. Your character will dig, and after some shoveling, will produce some soil for you. Do this as many times as you need to get all the soil you want.

How to get Fertilizer in LEGO Fortnite

Next, you’ll need a Fertilizer. This can be found naturally, from wild animals around you.

Look — we’re all adults here. So let’s just admit that Fertilizer is a nicer way of saying poop. So, head over to the nearest wild animals and wait for them to do their business. Animals will often “drop fertilizer,” so you won’t be waiting for long. In the meantime, pet the animals to harvest them for their goods.

Soon enough, you’ll notice that one of them has dropped Fertilizer, which you can quickly pick up.

Garden Plots in LEGO Fortnite

To build a Garden Plot in LEGO Fortnite, you need two Soil and one Fertilizer. With those ingredients, you can place it anywhere you want. Once placed, all you have to do is put a seedling of your choice in it, and it’ll grow into that crop.

There is no need to maintain it, as after a day, the crop will grow and bear produce for you to farm. You can place a whole stack of seeds in the plot to continue to grow after harvesting. To change what’s growing, simply take out the seeds and wait for the last growing crop to be harvestable.

How to find Seeds in LEGO Fortnite

Seeds can be found in chests and out in the wild. Sometimes I find them in random chests while exploring caves or landmarks I come across. Once you get the recipe for it, the best way to obtain seeds is by putting food into a Grain Mill.

The Grain Mill will process crops into its seed form, which is great if you haven’t found seeds in a while, but keep coming across food. Too many Raspberries? Chuck them in a Grain Mill to start processing them into seeds for your farm.
