At some point in your Valheim playthrough, you’re going to get pretty cold, especially if you’ve just taken a swim. This is a pretty nasty debuff and can result in health loss and eventually death. When trying to tackle Moder and find all her eggs for the summoning omelet, the cold of the mountains will be an endless struggle. And Frost Resistance Mead will only take you so far. Once you know how to craft the Wolf Fur Cape in Valheim, all your cold troubles will be a distant memory.

The Wolf Fur Cape is crafted from materials found in the freezing Mountain Biome, so a flask or two of Frost Resistance Meade is recommended at least until you’re wrapped up nice and warm. The cape will become available to craft once Silver has been smelted for the first time.

How to craft the Wolf Fur Cape in Valheim

Armed with your warmest socks and a mug of Frost Resistance Meade, make your way into the Mountain Biome. This can usually be found connected to the Dark Forest biome. It can also be spotted from quite a distance due to it being a gigantic geological phenomenon. Empty your pockets and collect the needed items.

  • Wolf Pelt x6 – These are usually worn by Wolves but, if you ask nicely, they’ll take them off and you can wear them instead. The usual way to ask is by repeatedly hitting them with a sword. Be aware as they move in packs, and those teeth are not for show. You will obviously need these to craft the Wolf Fur Cape in Valheim.
  • Wolf Trophy x1 – After you have asked to borrow the Wolf Pelt, ask nicely and they might throw their head into the bargain too. Kill enough of these canines and you’ll be rewarded with a Wolf Trophy.
  • Silver x4 – This is mined in the Mountains as Ore using an Iron Pickaxe. Sometimes it can be found exposed on the surface. The usual way to find Silver deposits is with the wishbone awarded once you have slain Bonemass. Remember, heavy metals cannot be transported through a Teleporter, so get your walking boots on.
