How to get better Pal Spheres in Palworld

Tired of Pals breaking free? Try these instead.

When you first start your adventure in Palworld, Pal Spheres seem like a pretty sweet deal. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take long for Pal Sphere to become unreliable, with a low catch rate. If you’re in that situation, let me show you how to get better Pal Spheres in Palworld.

Where to get upgraded Pal Spheres

Regular Pal Spheres are great when you’re starting but have miserable catch rates against larger Pals. Even if your opponent is weak, you’ll get more mileage from an upgraded Pal Sphere. Fortunately, you can craft Mega Spheres when you reach level 14. There are also some other ways to acquire Pal Spheres that are a little more cheaty.

The Mega Spheres are better than regular Pal Spheres but require more resources. Each Mega Sphere costs 5 Wood, 5 Stone, 1 Ingot, and 1 Paldium Fragment and can only be assembled on a Sphere Workbench. Once you hit level 20, you’ll unlock Giga Spheres, which are even better but cost more resources. Finally, you’ll acquire Ultra Spheres much later when you reach level 35.

Leveling up can be a drag, but you get a massive EXP bonus when you catch 10 of any species. It sounds tedious, but the boost is worth it.

While there’s no concrete data available yet, Mega and Giga Spheres don’t seem to increase capture rates by a massive amount. In my limited testing against Syndicate Thugs, upgraded Spheres only seem to increase the catch rate by a small margin. Still, if you’ve got the Ingots to spare, more consistent Spheres are a good investment, even if the improvements are minor.

Can I get better Pal Spheres without leveling up?

Making your own Pal Spheres is the most reliable method of getting them, but you can sometimes find them in the wild. You can acquire Pal Spheres of various rarities in chests. Syndicate members can drop Pal Spheres when defeated, so it’s always worth fighting if you’re of an appropriate level.

I’ve found plenty of Spheres of mixed rarities in Dungeons, and the guaranteed chests make them worth exploring. I mentioned catching Syndicate Thugs earlier, but if you didn’t know you could do that in Palworld, check out our guide that explains everything you need to know.
