How to get Throwing Stars in CoD: MW2 and Warzone 2

I always wanted to be a Ninja!

The Throwing Knife is one of the flashiest weapons in MW2 and Warzone 2. For the longest time, there’s not been another weapon quite like it, but that’s all changed now Throwing Stars have been added to the game. As with every new weapon, there’s a unique unlock requirement. This one’s tough, so let me show you how to get Throwing Stars in CoD: MW2 and Warzone 2.

Whether you’ve got access to MW2 or not, I’ve got a strategy you can use. It’s time to live out your ninja fantasies on the Warzone.

To unlock the Throwing Stars, you need 50 Throwing Knife kills. This challenge is tough because Throwing Knives are so hard to aim. You won’t usually win a head-to-head fight unless you’re extremely lucky.

A strategy for MW2 owners

As with most weapon unlocks, you’ll have a much easier time if you have MW2. The Shipment 24/7 playlist is perfect, and as the map is so tiny, you can even get the required kills by accident.

For class setup, I recommend taking the Scavenger Perk. This Perk will replenish your stock of Throwing Knives as you play. Remember, you can also pick up Knives off the ground, but as Shipment 24/7 is so chaotic, it’s best to let this happen naturally.

I like the Tracker Perk for this challenge as it highlights enemy footprints. As the spawns are wonky on Shipment, it’s hard to say how much Tracker helps, but it’s still useful.

Make sure to play aggressively, and don’t worry about stats because you’ll die a lot. Rushing the enemy spawn at the opposite side of the map is a good way to secure kills on players that have just died. Don’t get disheartened if you only manage a few kills in a round. Most players use Shipment to rank up their guns, and ultimately, they are shooting bullets; you aren’t. Shipment 24/7 is the best map for unlocking most weapons in the game, including the new FTAC Siege Handgun.

What if I only have Warzone 2?

Getting the Throwing Stars in CoD: Warzone 2 is much harder than MW2, but it’s still doable. You’ll need to have a Throwing Knife as part of your Loadout and survive long enough to get it.

Like in MW2, the Throwing Knife can down an enemy in a single hit, but it’s a tough shot to pull off. If you need to resort to a slower ‘campy’ playstyle, that’s completely fine.

At the time of writing, the Plunder playlist is offline. If you don’t mind waiting for its return, Plunder lets you start with your Loadout, and there are unlimited respawns.

Are the Throwing Stars better than the Throwing Knife?

As the Throwing Knife can kill in a single hit and the Throwing Stars can’t, the Knife still wins. The Throwing Stars can be used much faster, and you carry five, so they are more forgiving. In their current state, the Throwing Stars are more of a ‘style’ weapon. Even if they just exist for slick Final Kill Cams, there’s nothing wrong with that!
