While you can customize how your character looks, the main draw of the character creator is in its Dungeons & Dragons routes, which lets you make any playstyle that you want and lets you loose on the world with limitless options at your disposal. To be able to respec your character in Baldur’s Gate 3 you’re going to need to go to Withers at camp. Don’t know who or where Withers is? I didn’t get to him for about 7 hours of in-game time, so that’s fair, luckily we also know how to find Withers. If you don’t know who Withers is, he’s the character we need to find to be able to respec characters in Baldur’s Gate 3.

There are two ways to find Withers in Baldur’s Gate 3, one is to simply not find him, as he will find you. This means eventually he should just spawn at your camp if you do enough long rests. This was how Withers came to my camp, as I missed him when searching the location he’s found in.

That location you can find Withers is the Dank Crypt, which you can come across very early in the game. This place is right next to the beginning of the game and next door to a waypoint that you can fast travel to called the Overgrown Ruins. After you get there, you should be able to find Withers hidden inside somewhere, and upon talking to him, he should be able to go back to your camp to offer you the ability to respec in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can either enter the Dank Crypt by unlocking the door with a dice roll, or you can drop through a hole up top that goes through another area called the Refectory which leads into the Dank Crypt.

Once you find Withers, or he spawns at your camp, you will need to talk to him and select the option to respec your character. This will take you into the menu to be able to do so.

How to respec your companions

To be able to respec your companions in Baldur’s Gate 3, all you need to do is the exact same as when you’re respeccing yourself, but make sure you have your companion selected as the playable character.
