The blaster is considered another stance, but don’t let the naming fool you. You actually dual wield a blaster and lightsaber in this stance, so it’s not primarily range-based. As a unique combat style, it’s obvious why you’ll want to try it out and use against certain types of enemies.

You unlock the blaster gun later in the main story of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, so there’s nothing too demanding regarding how to unlock it. For this reason, we’re not offering specific advice about where you get the blaster in order to spare you from spoilers.

You’ll need to reach the planet Jedha. Bode Akuna eventually meets up with Cal and decides to offer him a blaster regarding safety concerns. Cal accepts, and you’re conveniently able to train nearby on a target dummy.

How to use the blaster gun

Just like with the normal lightsaber stance you can perform basic one-handed lightsaber attacks. Cal holds the blaster in the other hand and can fire it via the heavy/special attack button. The animations are surprisingly sleek, so you can follow up a lightsaber attack with a quick close range shot if you stagger an enemy.

Aiming the blaster is not very difficult because it simply uses target-lock. For this reason, it doesn’t have that much range. The downside to the blaster is that standard shots are not very powerful against bosses. Yet it’s balanced well for the gameplay and serves as a useful tool to chip away at enemy health from a safe distance.

Charged shots are more interesting. You can use the default charge shot, or purchase modifiers from Caij the bounty hunter at Greez’s cantina. Also note that you cannot spam the blaster sinceĀ it works on a limited amount of ammo. You must land lightsaber attacks to recharge the blaster.

Once you get the blaster, you can then customize it at workbenches just like your lightsaber. If you want more customization options, you’ll need to buy or find those.
