How to unlock Rottin’Ghoul in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC

Become the unlife of the party.

An ongoing tradition in Vampire Survivors is that, for each Stage in the game, there’s a character you can unlock by defeating a huge number of a specific enemy found within. Tides of the Foscari keeps this tradition alive in both of its new Stages, with Sammy available to unlock in Lake Foscari, and Rottin’Ghoul up for grabs in Abyss Foscari. While the latter is easier to unlock than the former, there’s still some nuance in hunting down the 6000 Rotting Ghoul enemies required to do so. Read on for a comprehensive guide on how to unlock Rottin’Ghoul in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC.

Step 1: Head to Abyss Foscari

The first thing you’ll need to do to unlock Rottin’Ghoul is start a new run on the Abyss Foscari Stage. If you’re yet to unlock it, you can do so by breaking the Seal of the Lake in Lake Foscari. You’ll also want to break the Seal of the Abyss, since the area where Rotting Ghouls spawn at a reasonable rate lies beyond the dark barrier it holds in place.

Step 2: Defeat 6000 Rotting Ghoul enemies

Once the above conditions are satisfied, it’s time for a bit of Ghoulbusting. The best spot for defeating lots of them in a single run is in the north-west section of the Stage, where you can find the Seal of the Banished, and the Je-Ne-Viv boss fight once you’ve broken it. You can also find it by heading toward the Shadow Servant weapon that spawns in the Stage each run. Make your way over here, and Rotting Ghouls should start spawning in huge quantities. Simply camp out in this area until you’re confident you’ve defeated 6000 of them. You can keep an eye on your ‘enemies killed’ counter in the top right of the screen to keep track. If you really want to ensure you defeat enough, you can pick up passive items that increase your Curse stat, such as the Skull O’Maniac and Torrona’s Box.

Step 3: Purchase Rottin’Ghoul and enjoy!

Once you’ve defeated 6000 Rotting Ghouls, your mission is complete. You can play out the rest of the run as normal, and when you finish up you’ll be able to purchase Rottin’Ghoul on the character select screen. Much like Gav’Et-Oni from Legacy of the Moonspell he gains one additional Amount every 20 levels until level 80, making him a great choice for a projectile-based build, particularly when combined with his Party Popper starting weapon. Now that you know how to unlock Rottin’Ghoul in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC, you can turn every run you make into a party to die for.
