Hunt: Showdown Gets Massive First Update

Hunt: Showdown gets massive first update

Hunt: Showdown first debuted through a series of gameplay videos. The impressive visuals were what you would expect from German studio, Crytek. After living in Steam’s Early Access marketplace, the first major content update will go live today. The updates include a list of improvements, including new weapons, tactical bombs, and Hunter outfits.

In response to community feedback, one of the update’s biggest goals was to reduce the advantages for campers by changing level architecture and layout, as well as adding rewards for players who successfully banish the boss.

A series of developer videos have been released to highlight the changes made in the 3.3gb Hunt: Showdown update. The first video features Level Design Director, Chris Auty as he walks you through an overview of the changes.  Click here to read the full patch notes.

Here are some of the major changes highlighted in the notes:

  • 5 weapons with sniper scopes for long, medium and short-range
  • 2 tactical grenades (Flash Bomb, Poison Bomb)
  • 12 new Traits
  • 11 new Hunter outfits
  • Improved map readability and changes to level architecture in boss areas
  • Fall damage
  • Inventory slot refactoring
  • Rebalanced player footstep audio
  • Updated Bloodline screen

The content update comes with a variety of changes, including things like level design and architecture. Lead Designer Dennis Schwarz and Senior System Designer David West address gunplay, hunters, audio and more in a separate video seen below.
