King’s Bounty II: Beginner’s guide — Characters, combat, and starter tips

Starting areas in King’s Bounty II

Let’s talk about the starting areas in King’s Bounty II once you start the campaign. The first one is Fort Crucis where your character is released from prison. Grab your gear, buy the crossbow, and recruit 3x Dogs of War. You’ll also receive 3x Spearmen and your horse.

New Tyrene

• After defeating the wolves, check the statue. You’ll find one arm next to it. The other arm is on a bench next to a house. Attach the arms and interact with the statue to reveal a chest.
• Attack the human bandits (Order) vs. attack the dwarf lumberjacks (Anarchy).

Ruins of New Hope

• Attack the golems (Power) vs. solve the mage’s puzzle (Finesse).

Bliss

• “Cold Bones” – Look at your compass at the top of your HUD and light the statues in the following order: northwest, southeast, and southwest. Talk to Berengarius and interact with the runes in the village. Fight the undead in the cemetery.
• “Letters from the Highlands” – The letters are marked on your map when this quest is tracked.

Witch Stone

• Talk to Ancel’s squad. Recruit Archers and Healers (they’ll be mainstays of your army until the mid-game). Defeat the army of wild animals.
• Follow the refugee. Pick up the magic crystals and place them in the receptacles.
• Talk to Amarantha and defeat her army. It might be tough since she’s got golems and elementals, but your new ranged units should help out immensely.

Batille Gates

• Pick up the warehouse key from the cart and use it to open the storage room. Grab the elevator lever and use it on the winch to bring up a chest.
• Approach the drawbridge and ring the bell. You’ll fight several Order-type troops here, and they have the high ground.

A dragon named Dumrazzil saves you from assassins. You’ll then get to watch a flashback showing what had happened six months prior to the start of the campaign. It looks like your chosen character in King’s Bounty II has been prophesized by the Scryer as the Savior of Nostria.
