Power vs. Finesse decisions in King’s Bounty II

Recommended Videos

Let’s talk about the dilemmas in King’s Bounty II that will have you choose between Power and Finesse.

Power choices are straightforward, often leading to battles as is (you’ll certainly get some XP and gold out of these). Finesse, meanwhile, is all about using magic, solving puzzles, or relying on your wits to stay out of trouble.

Location/Quest Power Ideal Finesse Ideal
New Tyrene: The Ruins of New Hope Attack the golems. Dispel the mage’s shield.
Marcella: Brand’s Betrothed Confront Cleaver. Deliver the invitation to Guienne.
Marcella: Marcellan Aqueduct Set up the crystal to summon the undead. Return the stolen seal.
You’ll need to go back to the capital to find the seal, then bring it to the tombstone where Valiant is.
Rickville: Rickville Besieged Arrest Titus and his people. Calm the farmers.
Marcella/Refugee Camp: Abandoned Catacombs
After helping the refugees, the way to the west will be clear. You’ll then be able to reach the Abandoned Catacombs. There are a few puzzles here that will eventually lead you to the garden where Logras gives you a hint.
Defeat the Chimera. Find a way to distract the Chimera.
Pick up the ingredients scattered in the area and place the pot on the stove on the second floor. This creates a dish that you can place down, distracting the Chimera to finish the objective.
Mages Tower: Code Red Attack the iron golems. Find the hacker.
Follow the floating light and examine the trunks. You’ll find a vagabond who escapes using a portal. Follow him inside to battle some elementals.
Ruins near Mages Tower: Mad Genius Destroy the spirits in Palatinus’ cage. Solve Palatinus’ rune riddle.
Take a look at the runes that appear near the device. You need to interact with the matching runes outside Palatinus’ house.
Mage Tower (South): Marlene’s Happiness
Requires you to finish the Brand’s Betrothed sidequest first
Choose the sword. Choose the book.
Ancient Crypt (East): The Reckless Attack the gang head on. Find a weak spot.
You’ll need to collect some deadly flowers. Then, you’ll solve an easy puzzle to gain the aid of Ghosts as you battle the bandits.
Windy Port: Clash at Windy Port Attack Fisher on your own. Ask Rick for help.
You’ll need to go to the Grotto by the beach to solve a rather complicated puzzle that requires some trial-and-error.
Magefactory: Finding Lindsey Fight your way to the main entrance of the mines.
You’ll battle several Hollowed mobs here.
Find the other entrance to the mines.
You’ll collect parts to make the elevator work. Once you step on it, it takes a few seconds before it moves. You can return to the main entranceway later via the town square to fight the mobs from the Power path.
Rouen Cemetery: Julian and Rosaline Cleanse the Mourner’s Statue.
You’ll fight Hollowed mobs here.
Find and summon Rosaline’s Soul.
Look for the three soul shards in the area. You’ll still battle the Hollowed mobs when you interact with the Mourner’s Statue, but you’ll have four Death Knights to help you out.
Haven/Floster (East): Tricked Witch Destroy the shield. Lift the magic shield.
Interact with the runes in the following order: blue, red, green, white.
Haven/Floster (East): Haven of the Enlightened Ones Attack the Haven with Bloodie Sadie immediately. Summon the undead as allies.
Floster (West): Beauty and the Beasts
Completing this sidequest allows you to recruit Chimeras.
Unlock the gates. Use Belinda’s codes.
The gargoyles all have to be pushed downwards. A bit of trial-and-error is involved since clicking on a gargoyle causes the two adjacent ones to move as well.
Floster (West): The Merchant Guild’s Secrets Attack Bludgeon. Talk to Madame de Guienne.
