During The Game Awards show last week, Naughty Dog and Sony revealed that The Last of Us: Part I, specifically the PlayStation 5 remake, will see a PC release on March 3 next year. Although we had a feeling the game would come to the platform, many have undoubtedly become elated over the PC version’s announcement. Several PC gaming aficionados will definitely want to test Naughty Dog’s blockbuster title on the highest graphical settings possible. Others, however, may want to experience The Last of Us: Part IÂ on the go through the ever-popular Steam Deck. Fortunately for them, recent news has confirmed that the game will be compatible with Valve’s handheld PC.
The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann revealed this bit of news on his Twitter account. As of right now, neither he nor other developers at Naughty Dog have provided the exact specs or discussed how well the Steam Deck can run the game. However, given the high technical bar that Naughty Dog and other Sony-owned studios have set for themselves, it seems unlikely that fans will have reason to worry about the game’s Steam Deck performance.
How much does the PC version cost?
This all sounds well and good, but many players will definitely want to know about the PC version’s price ahead of time. After all, Sony’s first-party titles have widely adopted the new $70 USD price tag, with The Last of Us: Part I serving as a particularly egregious example of this. Fortunately, the PC version will cost the usual $59.99 USD, so players strictly opposed to the $70 USD price tag need not worry.
Of course, there remains the question of whether or not $59.99 USD makes for a reasonable price tag for a relatively conservative remake of a nearly decade-old game. At the very least, though, those eager to play The Last of Us: Part I on the Steam Deck will not have to pay more than that.
