Layoffs at Obsidian, major project cancelled

Details are emerging about sizeable layoffs at developer Obsidian, following the reported cancellation of a ‘next gen’ project going under the name ‘Project North Carolina’. The numbers being mentioned are in the range of 20-30 employees, from both the Project North Carolina team and the company’s South Park RPG.
Redundancies appear to be confirmed by multiple linkedin profiles being altered to reflect a search for new employment and supportive twitter posts from remaining Obsidian employees.
The layoffs have affected people from all aspects of the company, from veterans like Frank Kowalkowski (lead programmer, Neverwinter Nights 2 and Fallout: New Vegas) to junior staff who’d barely been there a week.
