Earlier this week RIOT decided to clamp down on “toxic” League of Legends players and it’s having a positive effect on team performance.

Less chat and more play can increase you chance of winning according to RIOT which makes perfect sense. Following the clamp-down this week it appears that players are now paying more attention to the game and thinking less about what insults to hurl next.

When quizzed about the success of the new system testing RIOT explained:

Actually, we find that many players never chat at all and only use smart pings and perform pretty well. For a large number of players, chat restrictions actually increases their win rates, because being verbally abusive to teammates tends to make the team’s performance spiral negatively.

We have considered restricting players from playing Ranked if they currently have a penalty, RiotSocrates should have more information about this in the future.

So keep your team’s spirits high and work as a unit is the message. It’s just common sense really, if you’re not concentrating and more concerned about slagging off your team mates you’re not going to perform brilliantly.
