Lost Planet 3 Coming Early 2013

Capcom announced today that Lost Planet 3 will be making its way to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2013. The game will be running on Unreal Engine 3 and developed by Spark Unlimited, the team behind games such Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Legendary.  The next entry in the franchise will have you take on the role of Jim, the new main protagonist.

Along with a new protagonist of course comes a story. Jim has left Earth to take on a contract at E.D.N. III. working for NEVEC, who are currently preparing the planet for colonization. Jim and his team head out to collect Thermal Energy, the planets power source. With NEVEC running low on Thermal Energy, Jim sees it as a potential huge pay off and an opportunity to get an early ticket back home to his family and sets out to brave the harsh conditions and the Akrid threat.

Capcom unfortunately decided not to reveal any more about the story yet, but they did also add that the game will include various multiplayer modes. If Lost Planet 2 is any thing to go by though, it is very likely one of those modes will be Co-op.
