Magicka 2’s release date trailer does a song that’s nice and dire

Thanks to a note-imperfect parody trailer, we now know that Magicka 2 will be released on 26 May. It’s intentionally note-imperfect, I should add; taking the well-worn Game of Thrones angle and making it funny again.

Good old Vlad the Definitely-Not-Vampire is trying to convince people of his Not-Vampyric ways again (he’s a Manpire, if you hadn’t previously heard.) Unfortunately he’s not helped much by his backing musician, who’s struggling to play a certain television theme on his … harmonica? The noise is so discordant it’s a bit hard to tell.

Anyway, all of this takes place over a Magicka 2-ed up version of a RATHER FAMILIAR opening sequence. Inter-cut with some actual Magicka 2 footage, which looks pretty spiffy.

Expect more spellcasting, co-op, accidental co-op spellcasting tragedy and more pop-culture references on 26 May. It’ll cost $15.00 USD.

If you’re feeling confident enough to pre-order (which isn’t something we tend to recommend,) you’ll get a “unique in-game robe” and, more importantly, a hands-on “sneak peek” at the game for yourself and three friends on 5 May.
