Master of Magic has hit Good Old Games.GoG.com’s Tuesday update this week adds Microprose’s 1994 strategy classic Master of Magic for a mere $5.99 USD.Master of Magic casts you as a wizard in a fantasy world, with the aim of either casting the Spell of Mastery or of destroying all opposing wizards. You’ve got a selection of starting characters and races, and from there the game is on: build up your cities, heroes and armies Civilization-style, research spells, engage in diplomacy, and annihilate your foes before they do the same to you.As 4X games go it’s got an atmosphere since unmatched. It’s unlikely that this release fixes any of the remaining bugs in the game, but it’s still definitely worth a purchase.Go check it out, and if you’re looking for something more recent that might fill the Master of Magic-shaped hole in your heart, you could do worse than reading our Elemental interview. While they may not be related, there looks to be enough of the “feel” to interest Master of Magic fans.
