Microsoft switching from MS Points to real money?

It seems as though Microsoft is the process of phasing out Xbox Live’s Microsoft Points system in favour of a real money setup.

The initial leanings towards real money come from the Windows 8 beta, in which you’re able to pay for Xbox video content using your credit card. While you can still use MS Points to pay, the default payment option is the pay by credit card.

A new Xbox dashboard update is due to launch later this which many commentators are suggesting will use the real money system being used in the Windows 8 beta. Windows 8 also launched in full later this month, on 26 October.
