Due for release next week, Minecraft 1.7.3 will finally bring Twitch integration to Minecraft but a pre-release version is available now.

The update includes:

  • Added integrated Twitch broadcasting!
  • Fixed render distances above 8 (may not work in multiplayer, servers have their own view distance they limit you to)
  • Many bug fixes and optimizations!

To get started with streaming, players will have to link their Mojang account with their Twitch account through the Mojand account settings page. Quality settings can then be tweaked in-game.

This pre-release version of the game can be accessed in the following way right now.

To get pre-releases, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.

With any luck nothing major will go wrong with this pre-release version and the final 1.7.3 update will be live without a hitch next week.
