Minecraft exceeds 3 million downloads

Indie sensation reaches new milestone.
Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson revelead the news via his personal Twitter account earlier today.
A quick bit of maths leads us to conclude that Minecraft has sold over half a million copies in less than two, given that it was announced in June that 2.5 million units had been shifted.
It was also announced this week that Minecraft will be hosting its own convention, ‘Minecon,’ in Las Vegas this November.
Minecraft is currently only available on PC, although develop Mojang has confirmed that Xbox 360, iPhone/iPad and Android version are in the works. Launching later this year, the 360 edition will support Kinect.
