Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 6 has been extended

Season 6, not going dark.
Third Person Mode Discovered In Call Of Duty Modern Warfare (1)

With the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there’s been some confusion about the future of prior releases. We’ve been told that Warzone and Black Ops Cold War will integrate on December 10, but no word on Modern Warfare. Previously, we reported that more content is indeed coming to last year’s Call of Duty, and we now have an idea of when thanks to Modern Warfare Season 6.

That idea comes from the current Modern Warfare and Warzone battle pass. The Season 6 progression system for Modern Warfare initially wrapped up on November 23, with no word on what’s next. However, just two days later, the Season 6 battle pass has been extended to December 7. What comes after that is still a mystery, but it’s a new date to look forward to.

Of course, this means that Modern Warfare‘s current battle pass concludes just three days before Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War. The two games might then sync up on December 10, or Modern Warfare might get a different content model come December 7. Remember, the lead multiplayer VFX artist at Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward did confirm new content was coming. They just couldn’t say what shape that will take.

Onto the next

Typically, each annual Call of Duty game forgets that the last one ever existed. All of the CoD developers use unique systems with different ideas, and that doesn’t always translate to a cohesive series. This time out, the free-to-play Warzone will attempt to link them all together, but there are still some hurdles to overcome.

Modern Warfare season six

The battle pass extension leads us to believe that December 7 is when more will be revealed about the future of Modern Warfare. For now though, all eyes are on Black Ops Cold War. Nuketown and a full double XP week are now live, and Activision and Treyarch are gearing up for Season 1 on December 10.
