Molyneux Confirms Fable III To Be Episodic

Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has revealed Fable III will be launched as episodes on Xbox LIVE.
“Soon after the retail launch we’re doing episodic. We break it down in chapters. We give away the first chapter entirely free, the first hour,” he announced at the Game Horizon conference.
Fable II was released in a episodic version nine month after the retail version launched and saw 1.6 million downloads for the first episode. Molyneux revealed Fable II in episode version raked in $15 million USD.
He added, “When you reach a certain point in the game it says ‘thank you for playing the pilot of Fable 3, do you want to spend an extra 2-5 or whatever dollars to buy the next episode, or buy the whole lot?’ Press ‘yes’ and you will immediately continue playing.”
Molyneux then revealed the sales figures, which Lionhead has aimed for with Fable III.
“We are driving to sell more than five million units and to make a profit in excess of $150 million,” he said.
Justifying the sales target Molyneux revealed, “if a franchise doesn’t reach that level it will inevitably wither.”
Lionhead has been in the news a lot recently about the Milo Kinect IP. While Microsoft said it was only a tech demo itretracted the statement after Lionhead showed off Team Milo who are working on a Milo game.
