How to upgrade monkey bombs in Black Ops Cold War Zombies on Firebase Z

The famous monkey bomb.

Firebase Z has introduced some more action-packed content into the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode. The map has a new wonder weapon, jump pads, and more. The monkey bomb is one of the most iconic features throughout the history of Zombies. It is a cymbal monkey toy which has dynamite strapped to its back. It is able to attract zombies once thrown and then explodes to great effect. Usually, the first place you go to in order to upgrade your weapons is the Pack-A-Punch machine. However, the Firebase Z monkey bomb is different and you have to follow a few steps to upgrade it in Zombies.

The first step you have to complete is activating all three of the Aether Reactors in order to turn on the power. Once you have done this, you need to get your hands on some monkey bombs. If you are lucky enough, a zombie may drop one when you kill them. If not, you can purchase monkey bombs at one of the various crafting tables. Then, take your monkey bombs to one of the three Aether Reactors.

Wait for the influx of zombies to follow you to the location and throw down the monkey bomb. You will need to get a total of 50 kills with the monkey bomb. After you have achieved the required 50 kills, the next monkey bomb you throw will be upgraded to a more powerful version. This will make the piece of equipment capable of wiping out hoards of the undead.

Monkey bombs are taking over Firebase Z

From that point onwards, any other Firebase Z monkey bombs that you purchase or collect during that Zombies match will be the upgraded versions. This is definitely an upgrade that is worth doing, especially in later rounds when survival can become more difficult. In addition, monkey bombs can be useful when you are completing the main Easter egg or the various side Easter eggs in Firebase Z.
