Monthly Fee For Call of Duty?

Activision may be considering charging Call of Duty owners for a premium online service, according to a recent survey. The survey, spotted by Destructoid, states the new premium service would “enhance the multiplayer experience and provide exclusive access to a group of gameplay enhancements.” These enhancements include early access to betas and expansion, exclusive content such as character skins and game modes, more in-depth stat tracking and “support for competitive play.”It’s likely the service will come with some sort of fee attached, especially considering comments made by Activision’s Mike Griffith (and Bobby Kotick) last year.”We… see strong opportunities to monetize online gameplay”, said Griffith during an analyst day last year.”The average Call of Duty player has spent nearly five full 24-hour days of their lives online since purchasing the game.””Over time, we’ll qualify more opportunities to increase the monetization of these activities,” he added.Activision has declined to comment on the rumours.
