The BMW M3 GT2 will appear on the front cover of NFS:S, one of the fastest most powerful cars to be included in the NFS series. There will be over 65 cars in the game from the last 35 years, and 18 authentic tracks. At the E3 next week, EA will reveal some of these vehicles such as the Skyline 2000GT-R and the 2007 Lamborghini Reventón.

The 18 tracks include real-world locations like the 20km Nordschleife, as well as circuits created just for the game, in locations such as Tokyo and London.

“Need for Speed SHIFT is about the intense power and emotion of being behind the wheel and this carefully selected list of cars and tracks was chosen to give players the ultimate driving moment,” said Patrick Soderlund, senior vice president at EA Games Europe. “SHIFT is the evolution of racing genre. We’re delivering the first truly immersive driving game by combining perfectly modelled cars and tracks with the dramatic realism of the true driver’s experience.”

Need For Speed: Shift is due to go on sale in Europe on 17 September and in North America on 22 September for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PSP. You can find out more about NFS:S at the official site.
