A powerhouse IP goes multimedia.

If you have kept up with the recent TV shows that come out on streaming platforms, then you may have heard of the Netflix series Kingdom. This Korean political zombie thriller has earned quite a bit of adoration from both fans and critics, as partially evidenced by the 96% critic score and 90% user score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans of the show who also happen to love video games might become interested to hear that developer Action Square is making a new game based on the series, called Kingdom: The Blood.

According to a press release, Kingdom: The Blood serves as an action RPG that faithfully replicates the series’ aesthetic, characters, and combat style with 3D models. Notably, the game developer aims to represent Korean culture as accurately and respectfully as possible. Not only does the game feature several recognizable locations in Korea, but it also features authentic motion-captured fighting animations courtesy of “a professional Korean sword dancer.” Additionally, the game allows players to customize their characters with a variety of clothing options, including traditional Korean clothing, or Hanbok.

A little bit of something for everyone

Kingdom: The Blood will feature at least two modes that attempt to please different kinds of fans. The story mode recreates the events of the Netflix series, so those who want a convenient way to experience the narrative of Kingdom can jump in here. On the other hand, those looking to test their combat skills in more depth can check out the Conquest Mode, which sees players tackling a series of five-minute enemy encounters.

This upcoming Kingdom game will also feature “epic multi-boss battles and intense PvP combat,” so there is plenty for players to sink their teeth into. So far, Action Square has not revealed a definitive release date, saying that it will unveil it in addition to other features sometime in the future.
