Neverdie announces Hunt The Thing

Neverdie Studios has announced a free-to-play MMO to tie-in with the forthcoming prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 sci-fi horror flick, The Thing. And yes, I realise that is one hell of a sentence.
Hunt the Thing will let you play as a scientist or solider as you attempt to hunt down The Thing in an Antarctic research base. Unique skills sets and upgrade paths are promised for each class, along with the need to “explore abandoned bases, decipher clues, take blood samples, secure gear, gather weapons [and] fight friends and enemies alike”. Blimey.
Oddly enough, Hunt the Thing runs on the Cry Engine 2 (as Crysis did), though based on the screenshots below it’s not exactly pushing that engine to its maximum abilities.
As an aside, Jon Jacobs, the guy behind Neverdie Studios has a rather … interesting career. Apparently he’s “best known” for films like Return to Oz (in which he played the vital role of “cage carrier”) and his father once tried to sue J.K. Rowling for plagiarism (in a case later struck down).
Hunt the Thing can be downloaded and played from the following link.
