HOLY SHIT: scarecrows confirmed for Dragon Age: Inquisition. I type this story with sweaty, shaking hands.

Yes, okay, that level of excitement possibly indicates that I’m being sarcastic, but there you go: EA have released a new Dragon Age 3: Inquisition screenshot. It… it shows a scarecrow. Is it a Darkspawn that looks like a scarecrow? Will blood mages be animating scarecrows to act as familiars? Is this actually meant to be an emotive shot, showing a forlorn scarecrow who failed to scare off birds – birds which then firebombed the buildings nearby, reducing them to the ruins we now see? Is a single tear streaking down his unseen face? Probably not!

I’m going to assume that either this shot has leaked early, is meant to show off the pretty environments, or is supposed to accompany some information that hasn’t turned up yet, but as I have no context: scarecrows. Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. With all of the possibilities, it’s surely a match made in the Andrastian Chantry.

Dragon Age: Inquisition – which is actually the third Dragon Age game, but numbers are scary – is apparently due out later this year.
