New Painkiller heading for hell, damnation and closed beta

Recommended Videos

The Painkiller shooter series will be returning later this year in the form of Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, with development duties handed to The Farm 51. You may remember that team being responsible for Necrovision and its prequel Necrovision: Lost Company (which both used the Painkiller engine, funnily enough), so expect a plot just as coherent as the zombies-and-vampires-invade-WW1 antics of those titles.

In a somewhat unusual move for an FPS Painkiller: Hell & Damnation will be opening itself up for beta testing, so if you fancy signing up for that head over to the official site and slap your email address down. If you get in, you’ll be able to sample (and provide feedback on) single player, network co-op, deathmatch and team deathmatch modes. The beta will run until the game’s release later in 2012 (that’s a bit vague, but then so is the release date).

If you don’t want to try for the closed beta, you can at least enjoy these new screenshots. Not sure the lady in the bath towel is really dressed for this game.
