Ninja Theory’s Hellblade is indeed PC bound

Hello, I’m going to be on PC now.

We weren’t 100% sure whether Hellblade was coming to the PC when it was revealed at Gamescom last year, but it always seemed somewhat likely. The tricky phrase “first to console on PlayStation 4” was used at the time, which left a pretty wide window of interpretation for “yeah, this will be on PC.”

That possibility has been confirmed as a certainty today, thanks to developers Ninja Theory popping up a quick post about it on the game’s official site.

The announcement makes some encouraging noises about using mighty PC power to make Hellblade as tremendous as possible, so let’s have a look at the most pertinent parts of that:

“PC offers us fantastic opportunities to engage players in playtesting, usability testing and modding. We plan on grasping these opportunities with both hands to make Hellblade as good as it possibly can be for our fans.”

Yep, modding as well. That’s an encouraging sign. The mention of playtesting would perhaps suggest some kind of Steam beta (or similar) too, though that’s obviously speculation at this stage.

To be honest, I’m still not entirely sure what Hellblade is all about; but Ninja Theory opt to summarise the title as “a deeper character in a twisted world with brutal, uncompromising, combat.” So, some degree of slashing people up with swords in a third-person kind of manner is probably on the cards.
