Nintendo Revises Financial Forecast To $ 240 Million Net Loss

Nintendo has announced a major revision to their forecast for the financial year ending this March 31, 2014. To cut a long story short, sales of both Nintendo hardware and software have fallen below expectations, and so they have lowered forecasts across the board. In brief:

  • Net income of 55 billion yen to net loss of 25 billion yen ($ 240 million)
  • Wii U hardware sales from 9 million to 1.2 million
  • Wii U software sales from 38 million to 19 million
  • 3DS hardware sales from 18 million to 13.5 million
  • 3DS software sales from 80 million to 66 million
