Tmnt Shredder's Revenge Dlc

Dotemu says there are no plans for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC, but that doesn’t mean ‘never’

Cowabunga, my dudes.

One of the most joyous surprises to come out of the joyous surprise known as Streets of Rage 4 was the eventual DLC. The fourth Streets game was already near perfect with its cast of characters, graphics, music, and crunchy action. However, publisher Dotemu eventually released the excellent Mr. X Nightmare, bringing even more characters and a new mode. With the publisher’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, the question to ask now is: “Will there be more after it’s launched?” Well, no, but certainly not never. Dotemu has stated that while it has no plans for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC, that depends on the “game’s reception.”

In a report by IGN, the game’s narrative designer took some time to chat Turtles. Yannick Belzil, in an episode of Xbox Expansion Pass, said that developer Tribute Games wasn’t going to do anything like release alternate costumes for the characters. Belzil mentions a flowing trench coat as example, something that the turtles used to disguise themselves in the ’80s series. Creating new animation for the costume would take extra time better spent to make a great game. It was assumed that DLC would be off the table for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, but not necessarily according to Dotemu.

In a Twitter reply, Dotemu’s CEO Cyrille Imbert offered a clarification. He said there “won’t be alternative costumes at launch and we don’t have DLC plans so far, but we never said ‘never.'” Continuing, Imbert explains that plans could change depending on community ideas and feedback, as well as the game’s reception.

And the reception ain’t bad

Judging by reviews earlier today, the reception is looking fairly good. At the time of writing, Shredder’s Revenge sits at a solid 84 on Metacritic. It’s likely to go up or down during the rest of the week, but that’s a promising start. There’s a chance that TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge could see DLC down the line, but it might be a while.

Of course, if DLC is back on the menu, I wonder what tasty morsels Tribute and Dotemu could bring. Costumes, of course, are not going to happen. Even Mr. X Nightmare didn’t go that far, offering character color palette swaps instead. I’m also not sure what, if any, new characters can be added. Shredder’s Revenge already has six playable characters, which just about covers every Turtle ally from the classic show. Even April O’Neil gets to throw down. If anything, we might see something akin to a new mode or more levels. But the possibilities aren’t exactly limitless.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s: Shredder’s Revenge launches for PC on June 16. If you decide to give it a run and have DLC ideas, maybe let Dotemu know. There’s nothing wrong with more Turtles.
