This driver has been released to improve performance in Fortnite and also adds ShadowPlay Highlights for the battle royale mode. Crossout and Elex have also been given ShadowPlay Highlights support.

This new driver also adds a new feature which is in beta, Nivdia’s Freestyle post-processing filters. These filters allow you to change the look and mood of the game. There are fifteen filters currently available including:

  • Black and White
  • Color
  • Colorblind
  • Contrast
  • Details
  • Exposure
  • Half Tone
  • Mood
  • Night Mode
  • Retro
  • Sepia
  • Vignette
  • Depth of Field
  • Special FX
  • Adjustments

The main reason to update these drivers is to address the recent Spectre processor vulnerabilities. The notes include:

This driver add security updates to driver components (CVE-2017-5753)

Computer systems with microprocessors utilizing speculative execution and branch prediction may allow unauthorized disclosure of information to an attacker with local user access via a side-channel analysis. For more information on this issue, see the NVIDIA GPU security updates for speculative side channel Security Bulletin posted on the Nivdia Product Security page

Batman Arkham Knight also gets a fix to resolve the problem of surfaces being rendered incorrectly.

This update also brings three new SLI profiles:

  • DIRT 4
  •  Total War: WARHAMMER II
  •  X-Morph: Defense

The new drivers can be picked up via the GeForce experience or from the downloads page.
