Oddworld Soulstorm Mudokon Locations Guide Funicular Level 4

Oddworld: Soulstorm Mudokon locations guide — The Funicular (level 4)

Professor Severus Sn-Abe

After getting past The Blimp, Abe will end up in a level known as The Funicular. There are several mines here, as well as dozens of sick Mudokons. You’ll need to craft an antidote to save them before they can even follow Abe around. Here’s our guide to help you rescue all the Mudokons in Oddworld: Soulstorm‘s fourth level, The Funicular.

  • Mudokons: 24
  • Requirement for 80%: 20

The Mudokons you encounter here (and in other levels) will follow Abe around, but only if you’re in the same area/screen. They won’t go through doorways and they won’t climb the giant ladders. Thankfully, the layouts of each level still allow you to rescue them due to the presence of Bird Portals.

Anyway, you’ll come across several sick Mudokon at the start. You can’t save them yet since you still need to brew the antidote.

The goal here is to enter the mineshafts that you discover, picking up ingredients as you go along. You can use Abe’s chant or flares to provide a light source. Likewise, make sure you’re always sneaking around to avoid waking up the dogs (they’ll maul Abe in a single hit).

Note: After the second mine/generator, use the lift to go a bit further down below. You’ll find a secret area with a switch that you can activate. It opens the doorway at the start of the level (more on this in a while).

Eventually, you’ll acquire all the ingredients for the antidote, so open your crafting menu and create it.

If you interact with the sick Mudokons, they’ll be back in tip-top condition and they can follow Abe around.

Mudokon #1 to 4

After exiting the cave where you found the last ingredient for the antidote (Meetlebat Venom), cure the Mudokon and use the cable car to return to the previous area. Climb down the ladder to your left (the one that’s below the Meetlebat Venom mine) and you’ll reach a secret area. Cure the four Mudokons here and chant to open the Bird Portal.

Note: Because of the camera angle, you might not see one of the Mudokons here. He’s behind the barrels at the center of this area.

Mudokon #5 to 11

These Mudokons are:

  • The first guy you cured after exiting the Meetlebat Venom mine.
  • Two others at the bridge area with the spinning razorblade.
  • Four others at the first part of the level.

Have all seven follow you, but do not use the panel to activate the cable car just yet.

Mudokon #12 to 14

Instead, return to the very beginning of The Funicular level in Oddworld: Soulstorm. Remember that huge drop at the start with a door that you can’t open? Well, if you pressed the switch I mentioned earlier, then it should be open now.

This leads to a secret area and a mine that happens to have several Royal Jellies. Also, inside this mine are three Mudokons that you can rescue. They’re all at the bottom-right section of the mine.

You can open the Bird Portal to help them escape.

Mudokon #15 to 16

Go back to the main area with the work panel. Get your seven Mudokon followers from before to activate the cable car so you can ride it to the next area.

Note: Make sure everyone’s inside the cable car or you’ll risk leaving someone behind.

Although the exit will have you going to the left, you can go to the right for now.

There are two wounded Mudokons here (you should now have nine followers in the “normal” area of this stage).

Mudokon #17 to 18

After curing the Mudokons, enter the nearby mine. Two Mudokons are here and there are some doggos too.

Find the Phatoline at the bottom of the shaft and use it on the generator. Loop around until you reach the Bird Portal so they can escape.

Mudokon #19

You’ve got nine Mudokons following you around in the “normal” area, so head all the way to the left (past the large cable car that you rode earlier). As you reach the Bird Portal, you’ll stumble upon another sick Mudokon.

Open the Bird Portal so that all ten Mudokons that have been following Abe all throughout Oddworld: Soulstorm‘s Funicular level can finally escape.

Mudokon #20 to 24

For the last five Mudokons in The Funicular level in Oddworld: Soulstorm, you’ll need to reach a secret area just past the Bird Portal from earlier.

Double jump towards the shed and loop around until you find a doorway.

This secret area has some rolling spike traps, so make sure you time Abe’s jumps properly since the Mudokons might get sliced to death. You could also have them wait at a safer spot rather than risking them moving around with you.

Here are the Mudokon locations:

  • To your left once you go through the doorway.
  • Go up and then right from the first set of rolling spike traps. This guy’s hidden behind some debris.

  • On a ledge above the central checkpoint.
  • From this spot, look above you to see a house. He’s inside the house.
  • Drop down to the lower-left section. You’ll see this guy on the walkway just before the Bird Portal.

With all these Mudokons rescued in The Funicular, it’s time for Abe to head to Sorrow Valley.
