Oddworld: Soulstorm Mudokon guide — Slig Barracks, Necrum, and The Mines

After helping Abe's Mudokon buddies escape the Old Trellis, you'll reach a couple of gigantic levels that can take a while to complete. There are lots of Mudokons here, too, so you better be prepared. Here's our guide to help you out with the Slig Barracks (level 9), Necrum (level 10), and The Mines (level 11) locations in Oddworld: Soulstorm. Oddworld: Soulstorm Mudokon locations guide - Slig Barracks (level 9), Necrum (level 10), and The Mines (level 11) Since we're discussing a couple of huge levels in Oddworld: Soulstorm, I've split up this guide into two parts. You can refer to the pages below for the stages that you need help with: Level 9: Slig Barracks Level 10: Necrum Level 11: The Mines Level 9: Slig Barracks There are dozens of Mudokons in Oddworld: Soulstorm's Slig Barracks level. This stage has a few exterior zones, a factory area, and even a section that's akin to a rail shooter. Mudokons: 45 Required for 80%: 36 Mudokon #1 This fella is close to the start of the level and the bird portal is just to the left. Mudokon #2 to 7 These dudes are at the top of a locker room area. You'll need to go to the bottom of the opposite side for the bird portal. Mudokon #8 to 13 You'll find a couple of Mudokons once you exit the locker room, and the rest are working in a section with several Slig guards. Once you see the bird portal, throw a smoke bomb to cover your tracks and go to the opposite side. Use your chant here to help your followers escape. Then, once a Slig has spawned, possess them so you can blast an opening to the next section. Mudokon #14 to 18 This section has five Mudokons and some of them need to use the sandbags to avoid sniper fire. There are also some Sligs, mines, and mutant dogs near the bird portal. You'll want to sneak past the dogs, then climb on the ledge to the right of the bird portal. Tell your Mudokon pals to wait as you blow up the dogs. Then, open the portal so they can escape. Note: You can also go back to this portal to help a few Mudokons in the next part. Mudokon #19 to 32 There are two Mudokons that Abe can talk to. Make them follow you all the way to the right close to where you got the Fuzzy Pow (this is important). You can eliminate the Sligs as you're progressing through the factory until you reach the remaining workers. There are three sections here with four workers each. Once the workers are following you, a couple of Slig machine gunners will spawn in the main area. They'll end up killing the two talkative Mudokons if you didn't get them somewhere safe. After taking out the Sligs, you can use the elevator to the previous area (the one with the mutant dogs and snipers) since there's a bird portal there. Note: The reason we're doing this is because the next part is a rail shooter. Abe can use a cable car that shoots any item you have selected as a projectile. However, several Sligs will also attempt to shoot you and any followers with you. Abe's buddies could end up dead if you end up bringing them here. But, if you had them escape using the previous bird portal, then you don't have to worry about that. Mudokon #33 to 37 Then again, once the cable car stops, you'll find five more Mudokons. For this part, try to craft more Fuzzy Pows. Then, while having the Mudokons stay back, ride the cable car to the top and shoot down any hostiles that appear. You can keep going back and forth until everyone's dead. Return to your followers and bring them to safety when you're done. Note: I actually missed out on eight Mudokons in this level, but that's fine since I still met the 80% requirement. Anyway, let's talk about the next stage: Necrum. Level 10: Necrum Necrum is an insanely brutal stage in Oddworld: Soulstorm, one that can have you pulling your hairs out. There are sections filled with traps and rolling spikes, as well as parts where you need to cross obstacles using monkey bars. This level actually gave me a migraine due to all the traps, obstacles, and annoying Mudokon AI. They sure love to get squished or slashed when they fumble around while following Abe. Mudokons: 32 Required for 80%: 27 Mudokon #1 to 5 The first five Mudokons are working on machinery in an early part of this level. Before you can get them to safety, you'll need to ride a cable car, complete a laser puzzle by possessing a Flying Slig, and cross a pathway with lots of grinding spikes. Then, towards the end of all these troubles, you'll need to possess a machine gunner Slig so it can activate a lever. This will kill its buddies that are watching from across the cliff. The portal is just past this point. Mudokon #6 and 7 The next two are found in a section with the walking laser mob. Activate the switch next to the laser mob. Then, have the Mudokons follow you until they step on the two push switches on the floor. Tell them to stop so that the switches remain pressed. Have Abe step on the switch behind the laser trap. Continue onwards past the grinder to find the portal. Mudokon #8 to 10 You'll see these Mudokons above some spinning grinder traps. Take the lift and guide them past the blades. The area below also has lots of spinning blades, but there's a checkpoint and a doorway on the ledge above you. Leave the Mudokons here for now. Mudokon #11 to 16 Enter the doorway to reach a secret area. This cave has six Mudokons, so check every nook and cranny. The portal is at the top of the cave. Return to the three Mudokons when you're done. Mudokon #17 to 19 Continue onwards and you'll eventually reach a part where the Mudokons need to follow down a nook while blades are rotating. If you get past this problem, you'll find a few more of Abe's buddies. You should now have six Mudokons following you. The next section has, you guessed it, more spinning blades, a ride down a lift, and machines that are zipping by. The portal is at the very end of this ordeal. Mudokon #20 Abe will need to get past a dozen whirring blades to get to the next section. There's a lone Mudokon here, but he can't jump across the gap. To save him, you'll have to backtrack past the whirring blades to reach the bird portal from earlier. This is easier said than done because the Mudokon AI can be downright iffy. If you're getting frustrated, you can forget about this fella and just continue onward with Oddworld: Soulstorm's Necrum level. It's just one Mudokon anyway and you shouldn't have problems reaching the 80% requirement. Mudokon #21 to 23 Jump across the gap and you'll see three spinning blades and a Slig spawn point. The goal is to get detected, possess a Slig, and have it get past the blades to activate the switch. Keep trying because it can take a second for the animation to get completed. If you do this successfully, the floor will open and you can reach the passage below. There are three Mudokons here, as well as a doorway (more on this in a while). If you bring the Mudokons back up top, you can have them escape using the portal. Mudokon #24 to 27 Enter the doorway to find a secret area. There's a giant ladder here that you can climb. However, whirling blades will be moving back and forth. Once you reach the top, you'll find four sick Mudokons. Heal them then chant to activate the bird portal. Mudokon #28 to 31 Another section has four Mudokons who are being watched by snipers. The goal here is to activate the switch below, then the three switches near the moving laser mob. This will cause the snipers to get squished. This is followed by, you guessed it, more spiky, grinder machines. Thankfully, we're closer to the end now. Mudokon #32 This Mudokon is at the upper-left corner of the screen once you reach the exit. Try to sneak past the sensor and the Slig mobs. Tie up the sleeping Sligs and tell the Mudokon to follow you to the portal. Anyway, let's talk about the next stage in Oddworld: Soulstorm, The Mines. Level 11: The Mines The Mines level also has lots of Mudokons, but I believe it's one of the easier stages in Oddworld: Soulstorm. You'll be activating lots of switches here to activate machinery and cable cars until you reach the exit. Mudokons: 47 Required for 80%: 38 Mudokon #1 to 9 You'll spot three Mudokons that you can't save yet. That's because you'll need to loop around the area to find six more workers. After activating the switch, the rolling spike traps will also have power. Use the gaps to avoid them. Once you've got nine Mudokons following you, take them to the portal to help them escape. Note: Avoid making Mudokons follow you if there's a depowered piston nearby. Even if the piston has no power, it'll automatically kill Mudokons that touch it. Mudokon #10 to 15 You'll find half a dozen Mudokons in the next section. You'll need to help them cross gaps filled with pistons. Mudokon #16 to 20 In another part, what do you think you'll find? Yep, more things that can crush you. There's also a work wheel that you can turn until it's fully green. This will prevent the machine from ramming your followers as they're climbing down. Mudokon #21 to 30 A few Mudokons are out in the open, but the rest are working on a scaffolding. The moment you get them to follow you, that's when a giant spike begins to drop down. There are also explosive crates at the bottom, because why not? Try to be at the right-hand side of the screen and, with a bit of luck, your pals should be able to get to safety before they're crushed or blown up to smithereens. Mudokon #31 to 35 There's a machine here with spikes and flamethrowers. It's moving sideways, but you can use the gaps to avoid unnecessary deaths. The remaining Mudokons are further to the right past the machine. But, you do need to bring them all back to the left since that's where the portal is. Mudokon #36 to 42 You'll discover a walkway with a gigantic crusher, laser walls, and several slap mines. Make your Mudokons wait a bit further back, disable the mines, then get them to follow you. The next section has some crate elevators that have a few Slig mobs. It also leads to the exit. For some strange reason, I think I must've missed out on the last five Mudokons. At the very least, I was still able to reach the 80% requirement for The Mines level in Oddworld: Soulstorm. Anyway, let's talk about my favorite level in the game: The Sanctum.
