Flight sim fans will know the name Oleg Madox, he is the incredibly talented chap that created the original IL-2 Sturmovik which was an excellent flight sim. Today he and a team of sim veterans revealed a new flight sim project called DCS WWII: Europe 1944.
The team behind this game includes Oleg Maddox, Ilya Shevchenko, and Igor Tishin (Su-27 Flanker). Their aim is to release a new game which will appeal to flight sim buffs as well as new players to the genre.
If you’re familiar with their work then you’ll know to expect fantastic attention to detail both with the flight model and the aircraft. Initially they plan to release the following aircraft for the game:
- Republic P-47D-28 Thunderbolt;
- Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX;
- Messerschmitt Bf-109K-4;
- Focke-Wulf FW.190D-9 (from DCS: World);
- North-American P-51D Mustang (from DCS: World).
As well as a single player campaign set in Normandy, the plan is to also include a multiplayer mode with separate missions.
A modest sum of $100,000 will get the game off the ground and stretch goals have been posted for up to $1m so far.
Thanks Blues.
