More than one million player join Fortnite’s free battle royale on day one

Fortnite

When Epic announced that a new battle royale mode was going to be added to Fortnite for free and it’s piqued a lot of gamer’s interest. Well, it looks like it may have paid off because on day one more than one million players have dropped from the bus to kill each other.

Epic revealed the numbers in a tweet this evening, and despite criticism last week from Blue Hole over similarities between the two games, gamers simply just want to play free stuff. Whether making the battle royale mode free will increase sales of the main game remains to be seen but it’s a cunning tactic.

I played a little of the new free battle royale last week and it’s pretty good even though I didn’t last too long before being gunned down. If you fancy checking it out, head to the Fortnite site and grab it.
