System Shock 3

Otherside’s System Shock 3 team includes Deus Ex lead writer

Otherside Entertainment have announced various members of the “core team” who’ll be working on System Shock 3. Warren Spector (announced as project director back in February) will be joined by several others with games like Deus Ex and Thief: The Dark Project in their work histories.

There’s a lot going on with the System Shock license at the moment, so here’s a brief reminder. Otherside (headed by former Looking Glass Studios head Paul Neurath) are making Underworld Ascendant and System Shock 3. Night Dive (who brought System Shock 2 out of legal purgatory) are doing a remake of the original System Shock.

Sheldon Pacotti, the lead writer on the original Deus Ex (great) and Deus Ex: Invisible War (ehhh), will be System Shock 3’s Design Director. A pair of names from Spector’s days making Epic Mickey will also be involved: Arturo Pulecio (Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer Online) will be Art Director, and Jason Hughes (Wing Commander, Star Wars) secures the role of Tech Director.

In addition to the above, the team will be consulting with other members of the Otherside studio who have experience with former Looking Glass titles. Neurath himself, Tim Stellmach (System Shock, Thief: The Dark Project) and Nate Wells (System Shock 2, BioShock) will all be helping out from within the company. Robb Waters (concept artist on BioShock and System Shock) will be doing some work for System Shock 3 too.

Terri Brosius will return as the voice of SHODAN, and Doug Church (director on the original System Shock, last seen at Valve) will be offering “outside consultation” (so maybe he’s still at Valve).
