Outlast 2 new Story Mode released – M Rating hampering “things” reintroduced

Outlast 2 players may have found it a little too terrifying and perhaps preferred a slightly less nerve-wracking experience. Today Red Barrels has released a new patch which includes a Story Mode.

According to Red Barrels, the new Story Mode “allows players to experience the game with minimal challenges, fewer enemy encounters, and more breathing room to fully immerse yourself in the universe.”

To achieve this they have reduced the number of enemies, slowed them down, and reduced their damage and perception. In other words, they are a bit slower and slightly more stupid. The mode also tweaks the pacing which they say allows for more exploration and less chasing.

Another interesting note is they have re0introduced some “things” that were removed from the original release so they could get an M rating. They say these are not “drastic” and won’t impact gameplay.

Even with this new mode and changes it’s probably still terrifying.
