Outriders boss guide: How to defeat Yagak

The long and arduous journey in Outriders will eventually culminate in a couple of memorable encounters against a being known as Yagak. You do get to battle him on two occasions during the campaign. This dude's quite tough and he can be a challenge if you're unprepared. In any case, here's our Outriders boss guide to help you defeat Yagak. Note: Stay tuned for our Outriders guides and features hub, coming soon. Likewise, please be reminded that this guide contains spoilers. Outriders: Yagak boss guide Yagak is the chieftain of deranged, almost feral beings that live in the wastelands of Enoch. You'll first meet him during the Utargak chapter, and the next one is in The Caravel (also the game's finale). You can refer to the pages below for the parts that you need help with: Yagak: First encounter - Utargak Yagak: Second encounter - The Caravel Outriders' Utargak chapter - The first encounter with Yagak You'll do battle with Yagak in Outriders' Utargak chapter after rescuing your friends. Sadly, one of your companions meets an untimely demise, and this boss fight will be your vengeance. Yagak's abilities Chain Combo - Yagak moves fast, and he'll often slice and dice around the battlefield until he reaches you. Lightning Strikes - Several red circles will appear on the ground. Yagak will then call lightning down from the sky. Overload - Yagak will be surrounded by a blue shield, mitigating all damage for a few seconds. He'll then unleash electricity on those nearby. This fight is mostly just about avoiding Yagak's attacks. He does multiple hits with his melee swipes, so you better back away. Meanwhile, his Lightning Strikes can be easily telegraphed. As for Overload, it's also when he'll summon a few berserker mobs. You can kill them if you need health. Overall, this encounter won't be too tough (assuming you just stayed at World Tier 5) since it only has one phase. Once you defeat Yagak, there will be a cutscene where he'll run off. You can open the chest to pick up your loot. The rewards will scale depending on your character's level and World Tier when the Yagak boss fight was initiated, so don't expect high-level rewards if you fought Yagak at World Tier 5 and you cranked it up to World Tier 15 once he's down to a sliver of health. Anyway, let's talk about your next meeting with him during the campaign's final level. Outriders' The Caravel chapter - The second encounter with Yagak This Yagak boss fight is the final one in Outriders' campaign and it takes place in The Caravel chapter. This battle against Yagak has two phases (denoted by his health bar). Yagak's abilities for phase 1 Overload - Yagak retains this ability. Once the shielding's gone, he'll unleash a lightning blast in a straight line (usually targetting your current location). Anomaly Rifts - Yagak periodically spawns two floating orbs that act as turrets. They'll fire slow-moving projectiles that definitely hurt if they hit you. You can destroy the Anomaly Rifts, or just sidestep to avoid the projectiles. Just remember that Yagak can spawn more of these whenever he casts this ability. Sand Wyrm - A straight blue line will appear. After a couple of seconds, a serpent-like coil of lightning will zip through this space. Grasping Shock - A large circle will appear around Yagak after he teleports. Electricity will flash from this spot. Phase 1 is mostly about sidestepping to avoid the hits from Anomaly Rifts and all other attacks. Since Yagak doesn't summon mobs during this phase, and destroying Anomaly Rifts doesn't count as kills, you can't rely on any "on-kill" perk or mod to keep you in tip-top shape. I would suggest using a mod like "Essence Thief" on your weapon to keep regenerating health while shooting Yagak. Note: If you're playing as a Trickster, use Slow Trap followed by Twisted Rounds as part of your DPS sequence. Transition After you deplete the first segment of Yagak's health bar, there will be a short cutscene. You'll then find yourself on a desert plain with a few warrior-type mobs. This is a good time to heal and prep. Once you reach the next area, phase 2 of Outriders' Yagak boss fight will commence. Note: The game doesn't save in between phases. If you die during phase 2, you'll restart from the very beginning of the boss fight. Yagak's abilities for phase 2 Yagak retains the abilities from the previous phase. He also has some extra tricks: Chain Lightning - He'll fire lightning bolts in your direction. Grappling Hook - A straight blue line will appear. Yagak will dash toward that direction. Hook Smash - Yagak does a multi-hit combo and a blue circle appears around him. He'll smash his weapon in a wide arc. Force Field - Yagak punches the ground; he'll be immobilized and shielded. Then, he'll summon at least four berserker mobs. You can kill these dudes for some extra healing. Naturally, this phase is a lot tougher than the first one. You'll need to avoid so much crap on the ground, as well as the projectiles from half a dozen or so Anomaly Rifts. You need to be extra careful, especially if you're playing at higher World Tiers. Ideally, you'll want to wait until Yagak's done with his Overload shield (so you can take out his minions and regen health). Then, pop your skill cooldowns to nuke him while he's in the middle of his casting animation or multi-hit combo. After you beat Yagak, you'll be treated to Outriders' ending cinematic. You'll then find yourself on a small campsite where you can do the endgame Expeditions. Note: The loot you get from Yagak is inside the chest next to the Expedition table. You're likely to get a legendary item as part of the rewards.
