Overwatch Beta Kicking Off in October

Blizzard has announced that their new game Overwatch will enter a closed beta starting October 27 in the Americas. There will also be a series of Beta Test Weekends that will included a wider group of players at a later date.
The beta will testing the server hardware for the game to make sure it can handle the slew of gamers expected at launch. The beta will be accessible though the battle.net desktop client for Windows users only.
Overwatch was announced November 2014 which marked Blizzards first new franchise on 17 years. This beta is launching just shortly before BlizzCon which takes place November 6-7 in Anaheim, CA.
