Overwatch has been a massive success for Blizzard and considering it’s the company’s first shooter, it’s probably done better than even they expected. The game recently reached the 30 million registered users mark making it Blizzard’s fastest growing new franchise.

Blizzard games are proving to be the ones making the money and keeping players engaged. While player numbers for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare dwindled, Overwatch helped boost Activision Blizzard’s overall all monthly active users. Blizzard has seen their games rise to 41 million active users per month up from 26 million for the same period last year.

Mike Morhaime also mentioned during the conference call that the planned Overwatch League will get underway later this year.

There’s no doubt the shooter has proved a huge hit for Blizzard and it’s only going to continue going from strength to strength. With continual seasonal events and development of new content, it’s going to be around for a long time.
