Blizzard is holding an Overwatch World Cup

Blizzard is preparing for BlizzCon in November, and now that the Overwatch Season 1 Competitive Play feature is sorted out, they are holding a World Cup.

Players will be shortlisted based on their performance during Season 1 and the top performers are in with a chance to represent their country. On 11 August, the shortlisted players will be presented to the community in each region who will then vote for who should represent heir country. What could possibly go wrong?

Once the teams have been selected, teams will take part in best of three online eliminator qualifiers which start in September. In November at Blizzcon, sixteen teams will battle in best of three round-robin stages and best of five elimination finals.

Six EU, six Asia-Pacific and four Americas teams will be taking part made of the countries in the image below.
