xbox one pc drivers

That’s a pretty uninspiring PC set-up, but you get the idea.

Sometimes, even a PC game is better with a controller. Shock, gasp. Mouse and keyboard is superior for the majority of our games, but a few genres lend themselves to buttons and thumbsticks. I’m not about to try to play a FIFA or Dark Souls title on keys.

If you’ve been waiting around for official Microsoft drivers for their Xbox One controller so you can use that on various PC titles, today is the day your patience pays off. Over at Major Nelson’s page, he’s put up a pair of download links for 64 and 32bit versions of the necessary drivers.

According to him, these drivers will be part of a future Windows update as well, but you can get them early if you fancy.

The new PC drivers will enable the Xbox One controller to be used with any game that featured gamepad support for the Xbox 360 controller. Simply download the drivers, connect your Xbox One controller to your computer through a micro USB cable and you’ll be gaming in no time.

There’s no wireless option as yet. Microsoft haven’t really made any kind of indication that they plan to release an Xbox One equivalent of the 360 wireless dongle for PC, but you never know.

Watch the CD Projekt RED/GOG conference this evening. The Witcher 3 goodness promised.
