Phil Spencer was interviewed by Major Nelson today to talk about his new role as the head of Xbox. Phil makes it clear that he sees Xbox as a game console above all else.

I think what I’m going to say is I’m going to focus on certain parts of the business. And, when you take the person who’s been building games for oh so many years and you put them as head of Xbox you are going to get a real games focus on what Xbox is about. For me, Xbox is 1st and foremost a games console.
Today’s game consoles do more than just game, but that’s how I think about it. I think the core of this product has to be as a great game console.
