PC Invasion Plays Cities: Skylines Natural Disasters

Cities: Skylines

From day one players of Cities: Skylines have been wanting to destroy their cities with natural disasters. From next week it will finally be possible with the Natural Disasters DLC expansion.

I decided to whip up a small city to demonstrate the new feature coming to Colossal Order’s city builder. I take a look at the new buildings specific to disasters and then the actual disasters that can happen to the cities.

The city in this video is small so you can see the devastation each disaster can cause whether it’s a tornado, thunderstorms, tsunamis, fires, sinkholes, building collapses or meteors. The video concludes with city-wide destruction from space. It was sad to see it go but it had to be done in the name of research.

One thing I have learned from this session is that this should ramp-up the difficulty because most of the disasters can cause enough of a problem to drain the cash. Then there are the preventative measures to also think about and they all cost cash.

I will also apologise for destroying Colossal Order’s HQ in this game but it had to be done just to see what would happen. No developers were harmed in the making of this video.
