Today(6-26-12) we were finally treated to the PS Vita version of YouTube. If you’re not familiar with YouTube, please allow me to notify the proper authorities as you obviously cannot be from this planet. For the rest of us, you’ll be glad to know that the wait was well worth it. The app runs smoothly, the picture is very crisp and it’s a breeze to navigate.

Anyone with a smartphone will already be at home with the Vita’s YouTube app but the advantage here is definitely the screen size and quality. It can be argued that a tablet one ups the Vita but you’d be leaving out the growing Vita library. It’s really amazing that a download of just 5 mb can transport you to a hub a crazy kittens, laughing babies, cinnamon challenges, and gaming goodness.

The YouTube app support 3G and wifi, HD as well as SD, full and minimized viewing options, and all of the other features we’ve grown accustomed to. On the multitasking side, it is possible to have several apps running along with YouTube such as Near, LiveTweet, Skype and Facebook but launching a game will close them out. All in all this new offering rounds out a robust app offering with more still to come. Stay tuned to Gaming Enthusiast for all of our app impressions, game reviews and feature articles.
